Dont buy for custom surround sounds. . I bought this subwoofer for my new 5. 1 surround sound with denon av reciever. The speakers i paired this with are q acoustics 2020i. So i bought this because i thought that bass was less important than the sound coming from the other 5 speakers.

After all it only makes one type of sound (bass) and the others make much more complex sounds. The other reason i bought it was the price which is much lower than the sub that was supposed to match my system (2070i). But if you are buying a system like mine for movies, music, and the overall cinema feel in your living room don't buy a cheap sub like this to save money. I used it for 2 months and for most of that time it was very loud and worked well. But after those 2 months i noticed a crackling sound like the speaker inside was loose.
