Update:update march 2015 i barely use it now, as it seems to need such fiddly set up to get it sounding ok. Or it needs a permanent install and set up, which defeats the portability proposition. I still use the foxl on it own, and still enjoy that.
But i picked up a bose soundlink mini speaker on a recent us trip that has all the bass of the soundmatters sub, but without the fiddling about, and also with its own internal long lasting and rechargeable battery. The soundmatters sub is effectively redundant, and looks expensive if you also have to buy the foxl in first place. Foxl soldiers on, and in many ways sounds 'better' than the bose, which flattered to deceive a little with its massaged and slightly over blown dsp bass. Foxl for voice and acoustic instruments, bose for pop rock reggae around performance. Guess i am fortunate to have both.
