  Yes Steve, I had the same problem with my Denon DHTS514 soundbar, I was that annoyed with it I ended up ringing Denon in Northern Ireland who I must admit were very helpful, because the soundbar searches for imputs in order of priority, Imput 1 HDMI (ARC) Imput 2 HDMI (Without ARC) Imput 3 Digital Optical (S/PDIF) Imput 4 Digital Coaxial (RCA Jack) and Imput 5 Analog (3.5 mm stereo mini plug) You must first switch off any other equipment connected to the soundbar, switch the soundbar off as well then switch your analog connected equipment back on and then the soundbar back on, because you have no other equipment connected it will search through all 5 connections in order of priority and connect to your analog equipment connected to the soundbar. Yes it's an absolute pain but its the only way you can connect to the different imputs. It would have made so much more sense if Denon had left it to you to select the imput. A word of warning, if you have a Virgin box connected to it via the optical imput nothing else will connect to the soundbar but the Virgin box because even in standby the boxes optical output is not switched off so the sounbar keeps connecting to it and will never switch itself off. The soundbar auto switches to standby on detecting no audio signal after 5mins but because the optical from the Virgin box is always on even when in standby the soundbar can be switched off with the remote and 10sec later switches itself back on because of the signal coming from the Virgin box. So if you have anything connected to your soundbar optically make sure it is completely switched off, its easy to check just pull the optical lead out of whatever equipment you have and check if the red light is still on when it is in standby if it is it will cause the soundbar not to be able to shut down or you to change the imputs. You can of course select your soundbar to manual- and auto-on/standby modes by holding the power button in on the soundbar for 3secs this manual mode does let you switch the soundbar off and it won't come on again till you switch it on again.
